The Blue Parakeet has Landed (Zondervan Review Pt. 1)

September 15, 2008

EDIT: Zondervan only needed a brief review, rather than a full-blown production.  So what follows is a review of the introductory material of the book.

Zondervan’s pre-release copy of “The Blue Parakeet: Rethinking How You Read the Bible” by Scot McKnight has arrived!

Rather than reading the whole book and doing a holistic review, I will do a more longitudinal chapter-by-chapter review.  (At least, that’s the current plan ;-) .

On first inspection, the book looks good.  It is lightweight, at 236 pages.  My copy is a small paperback, but I understand that the true volume will be a hardcover.

The chapters appear very well laid out.  There are sectional headings that conveniently break up the text into a nice outline, with subheadings within each main heading as well.

[[EDIT]]  I will make the table of contents also a simultaneous list of hyperlinks that will link to each segment of my review, as we go along.

The table of contents reads as follows:

2. The Birds and I

The topics of part 4 are already bringing back memories of all the interesting debates at Bible college…

Really?! You can ship it to my parents in America, since it will be cheaper. I am visiting them in early November. Or were you just teasing?
